What is RingComm?


RingComm is a committee of 13 students that has been entrusted with the responsibility of designing its respective class' MIT Brass Rat and organizing the ring-related events, such as Ring Premiere and Ring Relivery. You can find more information about each 2018 RingComm member on the homepage.

What different materials are the rings available in?

The rings are available in Yellow Gold, Ultrium, Extreme Silver, White Gold, and Rose Gold. Extreme Silver, White Gold, and Rose Gold rings are offered with the options of a Regular Antique Finish or a Natural Finish. Yellow Gold Brass Rats are available with a Natural Finish, a Light Antique Finish, or a Regular Antique finish. Ultrium is only offered with a Regular Antique finish.

What is Ultrium?


Ultrium is a type of stainless steel containing Nickel.

Which company manufactures the Brass Rat?


The class of 2018 Brass Rat will be manufactured by Herff Jones at their site in Rhode Island.

What percent of students end up purchasing a Gold Ring?

Historically, around 80% of students in a given class have bought a Gold Ring.

I’ve heard that you can purchase an Ultrium ring for $80, is that true?

Herff Jones offers a Companion Ring Program, which allows a student to purchase an Ultrium ring for a reduced price of $80 if bought together with a Gold Ring. However, the regular price of an Ultrium ring is around $150.

What’s the pricing for different material and bezel sizes?

While we still don’t have pricing available for this year’s rings, it is expected to be relatively close to last year’s pricing. To view last year’s pricing click here.

When and where is Ring Delivery?

Ring Delivery will take place on April 20th, 2016 at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum!

Will I not get my ring at Ring Delivery if I miss a payment?

If you are not on a payment plan, you must pay in full by Friday, April 15th in order to receive your ring by delivery. In order to pay, please call 800-837-4235. If you are on a payment plan, as long as you are up to date on your payments, you will be able to receive your ring at delivery. If you are unsure or have any questions, please call the number mentioned.

If I am not going to Ring Delivery, can I get a friend to pick up my ring on my behalf?

This is possible. However, for you to do this you must email Jeff Quirk, a Herff Jones representative, at jpquirk@herffjones.com with the friend CC’qd to the email and a description of the situation. It is only after this, will you be authorized to pick up their ring on their behalf. However, if you are able to come to Ring Delivery, we would encourage it! It’s bound to be an unforgettable night!
